this song meant a lot to me in high school. tons of memories and feelings are attached to this, and i always remember a very magical place (zion national park) when i listen. it used to make me so emotional.

well, not my “boyfriend” (he’ll probably read this and not like it, oh well) but technicalities aside, anything umphrey’s will always remind me of him. i was going to choose all in time cause he has been into that song after we went to their show the other month but i couldn’t upload it, so i picked a song i love and also what his tumblr is named after.

i don’t know what my favorite movie is. i typically go with star wars because it’s been among my favorites since i was a kid, but that doesn’t work here. first movie jumping to mind is the royal tenenbaums, probably because it was brought up in conversation recently amongst my friends. i love the soundtrack, and this particular song is such a striking moment in the movie.

it’s hard just picking one from them, and this isn’t even my favorite (that fluctuates often but i feel i usually pick a day in the life. but honestly, it changes constantly) but i just love it and it’s one i don’t here too often.

i saw local natives at pitchfork and after that stacey and i were playing them constantly throughout the summer. so it reminds me of mostly july/august, the end of summer and moving into our place together. this is such a great song. and when i went home over spring break i was at intelligentsia in silver lake, where local natives is from, and saw the guy in the band i thought was hot. i got really excited! hah he was wearing a fantastic pendleton-type print hat too that i wanted so badly.

there are of course many songs that remind me of multiple best friends of mine but this reminds me of erin and sophmore year so much. i always go right back, it’s the song that takes me to that time immediately and i can never here it without thinking of riding in her dads red pickup.

my favorite thing to do when there’s snow everywhere but the weather is calm is to put on bon iver and go for walks in the crisp air… feeling very calm and serene…and content and beautiful.
